Water Resistant Galaxy S4 Active Officially Announced

The last couple of months have been quite busy for Samsung – we started with their new flagship model, the Galaxy S4 , followed closely by the Galaxy Mini . The third product has today been officially announced – it’s the Galaxy S4 Active. Samsung are touting the device as perfect for the adventurer and it is packed with the same features and power of its big brother, in a tougher, protective casing.

It’s clear that Samsung are aiming a small part of their market at those who like to get outdoors and experience some of what life has to throw at them.  The protective casing on the S4 Active is rated at IP67, meaning it provides protection against water and dust. The phone is resistant in up to 3 feet of water and their should n’t be any bits of dust getting inside it either.

Samsung already have a proven track record at providing more than one version of each device, to appeal to different market sectors.  It’s expected that both the Mini and Active S4’s will be as well received as the original which was released in April. The Active version will have a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor, identical to that in the S4.

The S4 Active looks as if it will be a popular device. There isn’t anything bad to say about it. It has the same large 5” HD display, a 2600 mAh battery and an 8 megapixel rear camera. The camera has a built in flashlight and the device will be running on Android 4.2.2 .  The new phone will be unveiled properly on June 20th at a Samsung Galaxy event in London, where the Mini will also be revealed as well. More details on pricing and availability will be reported as and when we know it.
