“Hemlis” the New NSA Proof iPhone Messaging App

Recent stories about the NSA and other agencies being able to listen in on our private communications has left many of us feeling cold. Even the big guns in the world of communication, like Google, Facebook, Twitter and Apple, have all been forced to allow access to their systems and to dish out whatever information is asked for about users.

The world would become a sad place if people were afraid to communicate through fear of invasion of privacy. So, to give us back a modicum of privacy and control, a new messaging app is being created. It’s called Heml.is and its creators are Peter Sunde, Leif Hogberg and Linus Olsson.
Heml.is means, in Swedish, “SECRET” and that’s exactly what this band of entrepreneurs is trying to achieve.  They want to build a messaging app that is completely secure, looks good and is user-friendly at the same time. Heml.is looks like it’s going to achieve all 3 criteria in one go.
They say that Heml.is will be so secure that not even they will be able to listen in. Text messages will be stored on their servers only until they are delivered to the recipient. They will use only their own server to ensure as much security as possible and they will not be providing API’s or allowing any third-party clients.
